Inspired by the ESRC seminar series, ‘Sustaining employee well-being in the 21st ³¦±ð²Ô³Ù³Ü°ù²â’ co-organised by Dr Tina Kowalski (PI) and Professor Wendy Loretto at the University of Edinburgh Business School, and Professor Tom Redman from Durham university, a special issue proposal was submitted to the International Journal of Human Resource Management on ‘Wellbeing and HRM in the Austere Workplace’. The proposal has recently been approved. The seminar co-organisers will be guest editors. For those interested in submitting a paper to this special issue, more details will be available shortly.

The aim of the seminar series is to bring academics, practitioners and policy makers together to explore:

  • What is well-being and why does it matter?
  • How can we develop and sustain employee well-being?
  • What are the challenges for sustaining employee well-being?

Nine seminars will run across five different UK locations (Edinburgh, Sheffield, Manchester, London and Durham).

Registration is now open for Seminar 3 in the series which is set to be another stimulating and though-provoking event on Friday 5th September in London. The theme of the seminar is ‘Sustaining employee well-being: organisational issues and interventions’. Emma Donaldson-Feilder will present on the role of line managers in improving well-being at work, Professor Ivan Robertson will present a blend of research and practice, drawing on case study examples and Ben Willmott (Senior Public Policy Advisor, Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development) who will examine mental health at work in light of research conducted in partnership with MIND, the mental health charity.
