Our regular update of successful grant applications and prizes in the School. Congratulations to all of those who've successfully secured funding for their research projects and to those who have received a prize for their work!

Leverhulme Trust International Network Grant

Congratulations to Susan Murphy who has secured funding from the Leverhulme Trust's International Network Grant for her Network of Implicit Leadership Theory (ILT) Scholars. The Network will collaborate to build and test comprehensive, multi-level models of ILTs, incorporating scientific advances in our knowledge about contextual factors, with potential implications for the development of both traditional and non-traditional leaders.

British Academy Small Research Grant

Ben Spigel has successfully secured funding from the British Academy's Small Research Grant fund for his project 'Entrepreneurial Innovation in Resource-Driven Economies: Pathway to Diversification or Economic Lock-in?'. This project examines the innovation and diversification strategies of technology entrepreneurs in resource-dependent regional economies and will be based on interviews with entrepreneurs, investors and policymakers in Aberdeen, Calgary and St John's. Well done Ben!

ESRC/MoD Future of the Armed Forces

Following on from Wendy Loretto's successful ESRC/MoD award, Wendy was invited to apply for a closed bid for further funding and we're delighted to announce that this application was also successful! This will integrate with the original 'Future of the Armed Forces' project. Congratulations Wendy!

Business School Early Career Researcher Venture Fund

Applications for the latest round of ECR Venture Fund were received last month and we're pleased to announce that we will be funding four projects: Charlotte Gilmore's project on the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop; Susan Dunnett's project on Illness as Catalyst to Action; Fernando Moreira and Davide Mare's project on Confidence-based measures for the assessment of bank financial distress; and Caroline Marchant's project on Emerging Adults, Financial Socialisation. Well done to all of the successful applicants! Our next round will take place in January 2015.

Best paper awards

Arman Eshraghi was awarded the Qualitative Research in Financial Markets Prize for Best Qualitative Paper at the 2014 BFWG Conference on Emotional Finance for his paper 'Emotional Economic Man: Understanding the real work of the Fund Manager'.

Dahlia El-Manstrly received the award of Highly Recommended Conference Paper at the 2014 AMA SERVSIG conference in Thessalonika, for her paper 'Mataanalysis of the moderator effects of switching cost types'.
