The contribution of our research to delivering real-world tangible change and public value was firmly endorsed, with 100% of our Impact Case Studies rated at the highest levels in terms of their reach and significance. Some of these case studies will be featured over the upcoming weeks on the :
- Calling time on 'green-washing': Fixing international greenhouse gas accounting practices to promote genuine climate change mitigation
- Addressing the challenges associated with Scotland's ageing workforce through the development of Scottish Government policy and employer practices
- Increasing leadership skills and confidence to enhance career success of female senior leaders in Scotland
We are especially proud to report that we were ranked joint 4th in the UK for our Research Environment, endorsing the vibrancy and sustainability of the School's research culture.
Dean Wendy Loretto says: "The REF 2021 results demonstrate the continuing upward trajectory of our research, enabled by the inclusive and supportive research environment we have worked hard to foster at the Business School. The results reflect the strong commitment of the School to conduct research that makes a difference to our local, national, and international communities. Our impact case studies demonstrate positive changes to diversity and fairness, policy and practice, building leadership capacity, and environmental regulation and governance."
The Research Excellence Framework is the UK's system for assessing the quality of research in UK higher education institutions. REF occurs every six years and is designed to provide accountability for public investment and better communicate its benefits. Funding bodies will use the assessment outcomes to inform the allocation of research funding to higher education institutions for the next five to six years.
