400 guests gathered in Glasgow recently for the ceremony, organised by The Herald and GenAnalytics.
The event showcased the companies, organisations, and individuals across Scotland making a difference to their communities and workplaces by putting diversity and inclusion at the heart of what they do.
The University of Edinburgh Business School sponsored and presented the first-ever Age Inclusive Award. This drew submissions from a range of organisations with projects or programmes that engaged a particular age bracket and enabled them to join a diverse workforce.
The judges looked for:
- A strong focus on creating a multi-generational workforce
- Evidence of the impact that the project has made to engage and employ diverse age groups within the organisation
- Benefits to the peope who have participated in the project
Scottish Water was chosen as the winner, with Age Scotland and Taylor Wimpey West Scotland runners-up.
Professor Wendy Loretto, Dean of the University of Edinburgh Business School, who presented Scottish Water representatives with their award, said:
"Well done to the winners of these awards and to Scottish Water in particular for winning the new award category of Age Inclusiveness. The submissions showed we have plenty of innovative employers across Scotland.
"We know that there's huge potential for our economy and our society if we support people who want to extend their working lives. Private firms and public organisations stand to benefit from age-inclusion across their workforce, so I'm delighted these awards are helping encourage this important agenda.
