The MSc in Climate Change Finance and Investment, as it will be known, will continue to offer a pioneering programme to develop students understanding of how climate change is driving new investment in a range of sectors, including energy production, housing, and infrastructure.
Dr Ian Cochran, recently appointed Programme Director, commented:
"This change in name reflects the growing importance of finance and investment for climate action, and comes as programme numbers continue to rise. The programme's past and future is aligned with these trends as our curriculum combines cutting-edge practices and approaches of today built on the foundations established by carbon finance over the last two decades."
When the original programme launched in 2010, it was the first Master's in Carbon Finance in the world, and since then has seen more than 250 students graduate. They have gone on to work across the world for private companies, public sector, and NGOs in carbon trading, consultancy, and management.
Reflecting on the importance of this masters, Professor Wendy Loretto, Dean of the Business School, said:
"Our commitment to the programme's future is part of the Business School's recognition of the importance of climate change and sustainability for the investment and finance industry. Not only are students receiving world-class training, they also have access to leading research and industry contacts through our Centre for Business, Climate Change and Sustainability."
With this name change, the programme looks forward to continuing its close collaboration and engagement with key partners, alumni, and the current cohort of students.
