Background

Before undertaking my postgraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh Business School, I worked in a multinational bank as a learning and development officer. My studies gave me a deeper knowledge of human resources and practical opportunities to practice a critical-thinking framework that is embedded throughout the programme. This enabled me to successfully apply to PwC Consulting as a Senior Consultant.

I spent 18 months at PwC before embarking on a new career in the government. At the Jakarta Provincial Government, I manage the operational Governor Delivery Unit, as well as being involved in several initiatives in organisational development. Within the scope of Jakarta Government (70,000 employees), I am able to develop my professional expertise as well as my leadership skills.

My degree provided me with three key features in my career development: a wide understanding of HR theories and practices; the ability to apply critical thinking in daily responsibilities; and the global perspective that enables me to take a more holistic approach in every problem that I come across.

The most valuable part was the opportunity to participate in the Edinburgh Award. It pushed me outside my comfort zone and encouraged me to independently navigate my personal and professional development. The workshops and coaching sessions helped me to discover myself, evaluate my strengths and weaknesses, and find out how to face challenges in both academic and personal development.

Involvement with the Business School

As the UEBS Alumni Group Lead for Jakarta, I plan to set up a social media group and organise a networking session in the near future. I hope that by connecting with fellow Indonesians who studied at UEBS we can all benefit from the network and have useful discussions.
