Following her graduation from Edinburgh in 2011 and a brief return to her native Kyrgyzstan, Renata later chose to pursue her business career in Germany, a feat she is most proud of.
How does it feel to be selected for the Alumni 100 list?
"Humbled excitement would probably be the best way to describe my emotions. I feel extremely grateful and honoured!"
What made you choose to study at the University of Edinburgh Business School?
"Top world ranking, high-class innovative teaching, as well as a vibrant international community speak for themselves."
What are your memories of studying at the Business School?
"I have wonderful memories about those days. Studying at the Business School was very challenging, but so much fun! We had such a great international vibe, great professors, cool assignments, and really fun parties. I don't exaggerate if I say that the year I spent in Edinburgh will always be one of the most exciting experiences of my life. I will cherish these memories forever."
What's the one thing you think current students need to develop or learn before entering the modern workplace?
"Stay hungry for knowledge! The market develops rapidly these days and one has to stay up to date in order to succeed."
What key thing that you learnt at the Business School do you still rely on today?
"Analytical thinking, problem solving, and the ability to quickly adapt to a fast-changing business environment are skills I developed during my time in Edinburgh and that I still use every day."
Proudest work-related achievement to date?
"After finishing my studies in Edinburgh I moved back home to Kyrgyzstan. Leaving my job there and moving to Germany in order to start a successful business career at Spotify is one of the achievements I am proud of."
