MSc International Business and Emerging Markets
Alumni 100Program Manager, Google
Grace was the first member of her family to attend university, studying at her hometown in Pune, India. From there she moved to Scotland and joined what was the first cohort of students studying for an MSc in International Business and Emerging Markets at the Business School.
How does it feel to be selected for the Alumni 100 list?
"I'm elated! What a fantastic honour to be part of such a list in the historic year marking the centenary of the Business School. Thank you!"
What made you choose to study at the University of Edinburgh Business School?
"The MSc IBEM programme was, and still is, one of a kind. University of Edinburgh represented the pedigree I was looking for and then the opportunity to come to Scotland just seemed magical."
What are your memories of studying at the Business School?
"It was a challenging year to begin with, to be honest. My first time away from home and adjusting to a new, different method of education from what I had experienced before. The fantastic professors and vibrant international community helped me settle in and made the experience unique."
What key thing that you learnt at the Business School do you still rely on today?
"Communicating across cultures is something I was learning in the classroom and in my day-to-day life, and that has held me in good stead to this day. It's something I am still working on to this day."
What's the one thing you think current students need to develop or learn before entering the modern workplace?
"Resilience and perseverance. The world and life in general has its ups and downs, and so will our careers. Ask yourself at each 'low', 'What am I going to learn?' Then look back with gratitude for the opportunity."
Proudest work-related achievement to date?
"It would be unfair to pinpoint it to one job, team, or project. The opportunity to work at global, diverse organisations, solving a myriad of problems and learning every day is what I'm most proud of."
