Craig's research focuses on how to finance nature restoration and ecosystem services, especially carbon removals. He posts regularly on LinkedIn about this topic, see examples below.
He also has several non-exec roles with the Scottish Land Commission, RSPB Scotland and the Financial Reporting Council.
Craig has had a long career in asset management (1997-2023), working as head of sustainable investment at Friends Ivory Sime, Insight and Scottish Widows, head of strategic asset allocation at Aberdeen Asset Management and a climate portfolio manager at abrdn plc. In these roles he also helped shape the development of FTSE4Good, the UN PRI and the GRI as well as serving on boards at IIGCC, UKSIF and Accountability.
Craig was appointed Senior Lecturer at the Business School in 2008. He set up the Centre for Business and Climate Change (now ) and helped launch the MSc programmes in Carbon Management and Climate Change Finance and Investment. He has worked part-time at the School since 2011 and teaches climate and nature finance.Â
