Research Topic
Social innovation in the mental health sector
Research Summary
My PhD research focuses on the social innovations being tailored and employed in developing countries' mental health sectors. I am interested in exploring the remarkable role played by nonprofit community based mental health organisations in overcoming the significant treatment gaps that persist in developing nations.
My first paper is focused on the contextualised social model of care tailored and employed by a community based mental health NGO in Nepal. By using a process approach, this study explores and highlights the underlying dynamics of the design process of a social model of care at the grassroots level. In my second paper, I explore the diffusion process of micro-scaled social innovations in Pakistan's mental health sector.
