Robust rotating workforce scheduling in airport security
Research Summary
Workforce scheduling is a notoriously difficult and lengthy process. In the airport industry this is exacerbated by many levels of approval that need to be acquired before a schedule is finalised. My research aims to semi-automate the rostering process for airport operators, thus reducing the number of man-hours spent on this task while improving the robustness of the final solution. My approach merges constraint programming, mixed integer programming, stochastic optimisation, heuristics and simulation.
