Find out about the clients our Masters in Entrepreneurship and Innovation students are working with this year.
Students From University of Edinburgh Business School

In Semester Two our Entrepreneurship and Innovation students have the opportunity to be partnered with clients to work on real business challenges. We asked our students to tell us a bit more about the clients they have been teamed with this year!

SymbaSync

SymbaSync client meeting

"We're delighted to be working with SymbaSync to help grow their customer base and create a promotional strategy for the website. SymbaSync is a precision job-matching website that allows users to input their preferences in, for example, workplace culture, management style etc. Symbasync aims to eliminate bias to anonymously match individuals to vacancies that exist within companies.

“We are a multicultural team with students from Canada, China, Greece, Cyprus and Germany, and between us we have a wealth of knowledge and experience to bring to the project. For example, Leonidas speaks four languages, which could be of great benefit when it comes to looking at the different countries SymbaSync could move into. Another member of the team, Mingkun, has previously designed mobile applications for startups—a huge advantage when it comes to thinking about the promotional strategy.

“This project allows us to use the knowledge we have acquired in Semester 1, as well as our own expertise, to apply a fresh approach to SymbaSync’s growth strategy. We are excited to be working with a start-up as many of us plan to start our own venture one day. We hope this experience will allow us to build some useful contacts—and learn from experienced entrepreneurs along the way!”

GetGuided

GetGuided client meeting

"GetGuided is an online platform that enables tourists to experience unique tours by trusted and verified guides. Our students have been briefed to explore and identify new niche markets and potential businesses that could help GetGuided to grow.

“On the team are Jiadai from China, who interned in a Japanese corporation as a translator and conducted market research; David, a product design engineer from Colombia; Adaora from Nigeria, who brings experience in leading projects and social media management; Andrea from Mexico, an industrial designer who has designed extensive technology projects; and Liam from Edinburgh, who is currently operating his own small business.

“Having met our client, our next step is to assess the team’s individual capacity and identify what each member can bring to the project before agreeing the terms of reference with the client. This helps to manage our clients’ expectations and serves as a contract in terms of what we can deliver.”

Our students have two and a half months to research their briefs before presenting their findings to the client in May.

We wish them all luck!
